FLYING CAR!... I WANT TO DRIVE IT

Ever think that flying cars would only exist in the pages and images of science fiction? Join us at the New York Auto Show for an exclusive peak at the AirCar, Milner Motors latest attempt towards making flying cars a reality. The current vehicle is a non-flying but drive-able prototype of the AirCar. In ground mode, the Milner AirCar will operate as an automobile and be about the same size as the Toyota Corolla or Honda Civic. A separate 40hp engine and transmission will power the wheels on the ground. Teh company expects the vehicle to cost approximately $450,000. The initial prototype will be built as an experimental aircraft, with the eventual goal of getting the aircraft certified for commercial production. The airplane will be eventually be pressurized, have normal deicing equipment and operate up to 25,000 feet. This allows the pilot to get above a majority of the weather without getting into the more hostile airspace above 25,000 feet (of lower temperatures, lower atmospheric p...

TELEPORTATION ... IS IT REAL?

Michio Kaku , physicist and author of "Physics of the Impossible," says it is already a reality. Ever since the wheel was invented more than 5,000 years ago, people have been inventing new ways to travel faster from one point to another. The chariot, bicycle, automobile, airplane and rocket have all been invented to decrease the amount of time we spend getting to our desired destinations. Yet each of these forms of transportation share the same flaw: They require us to cross a physical distance, which can take anywhere from minutes to many hours depending on the starting and ending points. Teleportation is the transfer of matter from one point to another, more or less instantaneously. Teleportation involves dematerializing an object at one point, and sending the details of that object's precise atomic configuration to another location, where it will be reconstructed. What this means is that time and space could be eliminated from travel -- we could be transported to any l...

MAGLEV train capable of 3,500 km/h

Maglev (derived from magnetic levitation), is a system of transportation that suspends, guides and propels vehicles, predominantly trains, using magnetic levitation from a very large number of magnets for lift and propulsion. This method has the potential to be faster, quieter and smoother than wheeled mass transit systems. The power needed for levitation is usually not a particularly large percentage of the overall consumption; most of the power used is needed to overcome air drag, as with any other high speed train. The highest recorded speed of a Maglev train is 581 kilometres per hour (361 mph), achieved in Japan in 2003, 6 kilometres per hour (3.7 mph) faster than the conventional TGV speed record.

WHAT ABOUT ROAD VEHICLES? ... MAYBE HYDROGEN FUEL CAR WILL BE THE CAR OF THE FUTURE

This is an interview with a General Motors employee about their fuel cell car. Many experts think hydrogen could replace petrol, diesel and natural gas as the main fuel for cars, buses and trucks in the years to come.

THE ULTRA

ULTra is a battery-driven, 200-mpg-equivalent, elevated personal rapid transit system with many four-person vehicles. First deployment is scheduled for London Heathrow Airport in Spring 2010, to serve Heathrow's new Terminal 5. Working as circulator transit for airports, office parks, universities, and other major activity centers, ULTra is faster than a car. In these applications, ULTra solves the "last mile problem." ABOUT CHAMOMILE: AN HERBAL REMEDY

There are two reasons why people drink chamomile tea aside from its flavor. Mark Blumenthal, founder and executive director of the American Botanical Council, says people also drink chamomile tea to soothe their stomachs, and it has been shown to be a very mild, safe, effective sleep aid. Modern clinical research suggests also shows chamomile extracts can help treat certain skin wounds and other kinds of skin problems, making it an herb that everybody would want to have in their kitchen.

HYPNOTHERAPY

What is hypnotherapy? The term "hypnosis" comes from the Greek word hypnos, meaning "sleep." Hypnotherapists use exercises that bring about deep relaxation and an altered state of consciousness, also known as a trance. A person in a deeply focused state is unusually responsive to an idea or image, but this does not mean that a hypnotist can control the person's mind and free will. On the contrary, hypnosis can actually teach people how to master their own states of awareness. By doing so they can affect their own bodily functions and psychological responses. What illnesses or conditions respond well to hypnosis? Hypnosis is used in a variety of settings -- from emergency rooms to dental offices to outpatient clinics. Clinical studies suggest that hypnosis may improve immune function, increase relaxation, decrease stress, and ease pain and feelings of anxiety. Hypnotherapy can reduce the fear and anxiety that some people feel before medical or dental procedures. ...
